Jordan Leonard: One Student Saving Our Summer

During the summer months, blood donation decreases.  In response to this, for the past couple years we have called on our local students to save our summer.  In the Student Saving Summer Program students hold blood drives and the one with the most blood collected for our community wins scholarship money.

This summer has been especially difficult for blood donation.  We have been in a shortage for the past few months, and much like the heat there is no sign of it breaking.  More than ever we have been calling on our students to support the local hospitals in this “dry spell.”  To help spur blood drives in the first two weeks of July, we offered a promotion to raffle off an I-Pad for students who held blood drives.

The winner of the I-Pad was: Jordan Leonard!  Jordan held his blood drive on his vacation.  His drive saved up to 93 lives in his community, at a time when blood donors were needed the most! Jordan Leonard is the eldest son of three boys.  Jordan graduated from A Beka Academy in Pensacola, Florida with honors.  Jordan is working his entire summer as a counselor at Camp Hosanna in Hiawassee, GA.  In the fall he is going to attend Shawnee Baptist College in Louisville, KY to work in youth ministry.

It is rewarding to work with students who are willing to give back to their community, especially during their time off.
